Collection: Allen-Bradley PLC-5

The Allen-Bradley PLC-5 is an older, modular programmable logic controller (PLC) that has played a key role in industrial automation. It features a processor, power supply, and I/O modules that can be customized and expanded. While it’s still in use in some installations, it lacks the advanced features and processing power of newer PLCs.

The PLC-5 supports various communication protocols like DH-485, DH+, Remote I/O, and Ethernet (on some models), and is programmed using RSLogix 5 software. While known for its reliability, the PLC-5 is now considered obsolete due to its limited capabilities and discontinued support. It’s best suited for legacy applications in industries such as heavy industry, automotive, and process control. For new applications, Rockwell Automation recommends upgrading to platforms like ControlLogix, which offer superior performance and capabilities.
